Auron, the «great skiing» resort
While Auron positioned itself in 1936 as a pioneer when it came to downhill skiing in Alpes-Maritimes, its ski area has now become the largest in the département. With 135km of pistes, skiers can truly feel like they’re getting away from it all. In Auron, snow is guaranteed across 55% of the area thanks to its snowmaking machines, the most powerful in Europe. At altitudes between 1600m and 2450m above sea level, the resort of Auron offers 360° panoramic views. It extends over 4 sectors with varied, wide slopes, in the heart of a valley which is filled with traditional barns, in the middle of the forest. Most of its 42 pistes are for experienced skiers. Its ski lifts are latest generation and skiers can benefit from “hands free” packages which allow quick access at the terminals.
Great fun, exciting descents and superb panoramas
Experienced snowboarders can enjoy free entrance to a snow park. The resort also has areas for cross-country skiing. For snowshoe enthusiasts, the Puy area is a dream with perfectly quiet, wooded trails. When it comes to entertainment, the family park in Auron has a fun course for children and adults, whether they’re skiing or snowboarding. The resort’s snow front offers beginners wide green piste which is close to the resort’s restaurants. Beginner skiers aged 3 and up can enjoy their first time sliding on the snow in the ‘snow garden’ while younger ones, from 6 months to 3 years old, are welcome all year round at the Oursons nursery. Whether you’re with your family, an experienced skier or an enthusiastic beginner, Auron is the ideal resort for a sunny ski break.
Auron, an authentic, friendly resort
After skiing, it’s time to relax. The heart of the resort comes alive around the ice rink – you’re sure to enjoy a friendly atmosphere. In the evening, adults can enjoy themselves in plenty of cosy spots. If you want to find out more about the local history, go to Saint Etienne de Tinée. Linked to Auron by the Pinatelle cable car, this charming village is just a few minutes away from the ski resort by car.
